Description
The development of the Ada-class corvette for the Turkish Navy began in 2004, following the cancellation of an earlier plan to buy Blohm+Voss MEKO A100 corvettes. A commitment was made to use local companies to develop an indigenous product under the MILGEM programme. The first of class was commissioned in 2011, followed by a further three ships in the class. The final ship was commissioned in 2019, while Pakistan signed a contract for four MILGEM corvettes in November 2017 and Ukraine is reported to have ordered
four in December 2020.
