The Indian Navy is to receive 16 ASW Shallow Water Craft (ASWSWC) from Garden Reach Shipbuilders & Engineers and Cochin Shipyard following the contracts awarded in April 2019. The ships are to replace the Abhay-class corvettes. Deliveries of the new vessels will begin in October 2022 and aim to be completed by October 2026. The ASWSWCs will have the capability to interdict and destroy subsurface targets in coastal waters, as well as perform day and night SAR operations, aircraft monitoring and minelaying in the
sea bed.
