The Project 23900 vessels are universal landing ships (UDC) and are also considered LHDs, developed by Russia’s JSC Zelenodolsk Design Bureau. Russia is reported to have ordered two of these vessels in mid-2020, which are due to begin construction later in the year at Zaliv Shipyard. The vessels are similar in design to the Mistral-class amphibious assault
ship.
