Vikrant is the first of India’s new Vikrant-class aircraft carriers. The construction of Vikrant represents an important milestone in the development of Indian shipbuilding capabilities. It will be the Indian Navy’s first indigenously built carrier. However, the long-running programme has been beset by delays, making it unclear when it will be commissioned and become operational.
