The 6P41 Pecheneg is the latest version of the PK series of 7.62x54mm GPMGs that were introduced into Soviet service in 1961, used by forces in more than 50 countries and produced locally in several. The Pecheneg has a heavy barrel and a revised bipod arrangement which, according to TsNIITochMash, improves grouping by a factor of two. The barrel does not have to be changed during firing and has a life of 30,000
