K16

SNT Motiv (formerly S&T Motiv) developed the K12 7.62mm machine gun between 2010 and 2012 to replace US-supplied M60s across a range of Republic of Korea Army roles, including pintle-mounted applications in the Korean Utility Helicopter. The infantry version of the weapon was subsequently redesignated K16 to distinguish it from the vehicle-mounted variant. The K16 provides the ROKA with a domestically developed general-purpose machine gun chambered for 7.62x51mm NATO, supporting South Korea's broader objective of
reducing dependence on foreign-supplied infantry weapons.
