Norinco’s 7.62x54mmR Type 80 is essentially the same as the Russian PK belt-fed machine gun. The Type 80 can be fired in the light role from its folding bipod or mounted on a tripod for use in the sustained fire role. The tripod can also be used in the air defence role. The Type 80 entered the People’s Liberation Army service in the mid-1980s and has been exported to a least five
customers.
