Crafted to fulfill the specifications of the Israeli Defense Forces (IDF), the Negev 5.56x45mm Light Machine Gun (LMG) has been in active service in Israel since 1997 and has garnered global adoption, being sold to at least 13 different customers. Operating on an open-bolt system, the Negev is versatile, accepting ammunition from a belt, assault drum, or NATO 5.56 magazine, and it is capable of semi-automatic firing. The firearm incorporates four distinct safety mechanisms. A compact SF version is also available,
and the Negev can be deployed from various mounts, including specialized airborne mounts for helicopters, as well as mounts for vehicles and naval applications.
