The 7.62mm G28 designated marksman rifle, developed for German Army deployment in Afghanistan, is a military adaptation of Heckler & Koch's civilian MR308 semi-automatic competition rifle. Remarkably, around 75% (120) of the rifle's parts are interchangeable with the HK417 assault rifle. The G28 comes in two versions: the G28 E2 (Standard) equipped with a Schmidt & Bender PMII 3–20×50 sight, and the G28 E3 (Patrol) featuring a Schmidt & Bender PMII 1–8×24
