Denel developed the NTW-20, a bolt-action, large-caliber anti-materiel sniper rifle in 1995, and it has been in service with the South African National Defence Force since 1998. This versatile weapon is offered in two calibers: 20x82mm (NTW-20) and 14.5x114mm (NTW-14.5). Switching between the NTW-20 and NTW-14.5 calibers is achievable without specialized tools, requiring only the alteration of the bolt, barrel, sight system, and magazine. To mitigate recoil forces, the NTW-20 incorporates a recoil management
system, which includes a muzzle brake, spring buffer, and hydraulic damper. The rifle is designed for dismounted operations, allowing it to be disassembled and conveniently carried by two soldiers in backpacks.
