Thales introduced the 5.56mm F90 Modular Bullpup Rifle at DSEI 2017 as a further development of the F90 Assault Rifle originally developed for the Australian Defence Force. Unlike the standard F90, which uses the ADF's legacy F88 Austeyr magazines, the F90 MBR accepts standard M4/M16 STANAG magazines, significantly broadening its compatibility with allied ammunition supply chains. The modular bullpup design retains the compact overall length and balance of the original F90 while offering improved interoperability
for international customers and coalition operations.
