The Type 97A, also known as the QBZ-97A, is a variant of Norinco’s QBZ-95 bullpup rifle family developed for the export market. Unlike the People’s Liberation Army’s QBZ-95-series weapons which fire the indigenous 5.8x42mm round, the Type 97A uses 5.56mm NATO ammunition.
