The Kalashnikov Concern unveiled its developmental AK-19 assault rifle in August 2020. Compared to the AK-12 assault rifle upon which it is based, the AK-19 is chambered for the 5.56x45mm NATO cartridge and introduces ergonomic improvements to its folding polymer stock, a new rear sight and a slotted flash suppressor capable of mounting a silencer. New proprietary polymer magazines have also been developed to accommodate the different

cartridges.
