The Slingshot is BLOS Range Extension for Tactical Radios. The Requirement: Maintain command and control over widely dispersed areasIsolated teams operating in remote and hostile areas cannot rely on terrestrial or line of sight communications. High tempo operations must not be delayed waiting for communications infrastructure to be established. Dedicated government and military TACSAT channel availability is in short supply and does not deliver relaible comms on the move (COTM). A resilient and battle-proven BLOS
alternative is required. It must maintain security integrity and COTM and be available to all platforms. The Solution: Extend the range of tactical radios beyond line of sightSlingShot enables in-service tactical radios to work over L-Band COMSATCOM. It provides low-latency voice and data connectivity, enabling tactical radios on any platform to utilise Inmarsat’s L-TAC™ global constellation. Vehicle mounted, on the person, on helicopters, fixed-wing aircraft and in maritime applications, using small omnidirectional antennas which do not require pointing, SlingShot maintains voice and low-bandwidth data communications over 1000s of kilometers. The L-Band tactical net unifies radios of different frequency bands to aid interopability between nations, agencies and partners, while flexible lease options and dedicated bandwidth guarantee a high quality service tailored to meet specific requirements.
