The Ophir FoldIR 30-450mm f/3.4 is a continuous zoom mid-wave infrared lens using a folded optics design to deliver a 15x zoom range in a compact form factor optimized for UAV gimbals, unmanned systems, and tactical aerial, land, and maritime payloads. Compatible with 10 micron SXGA detectors, it provides vehicle detection ranges exceeding 20 km with a built-in mechanical shutter for non-uniformity correction control. The folded optical path significantly reduces the physical length of the lens assembly compared
to a conventional telescopic design, enabling integration into smaller gimbal enclosures and tighter payload envelopes. It is well suited for airborne ISR, coastal surveillance, and ground-based electro-optical systems where long-range MWIR imaging capability and compact packaging must be balanced.
