The EMCORE TAC-440 is a MEMS-based inertial measurement unit occupying less than 5 cubic inches and providing 1 degree per hour gyro bias stability with 0.05 degrees per root-hour angle random walk, serving as a drop-in replacement for Honeywell's 1930 and 4930 IMUs. Based on proven quartz MEMS inertial sensor technology, the TAC-440 delivers repeatable high-volume production performance with strong thermal stability across wide operating temperature ranges. As the world's smallest 1 degree per hour IMU at the

time of its introduction, the TAC-440 is designed for defense and aerospace platforms where IMU size and weight are primary integration constraints and Honeywell legacy form-factor compatibility is required. It is appropriate for airborne, ground vehicle, and maritime navigation and stabilization applications requiring tactical-grade inertial performance in an ultra-compact package.
