The Ship-to-Shore Connector is an amphibious landing craft with enhanced payload capabilities. The Ship-to-Shore Connector (SSC) is the next generation of the Landing Craft, Air Cushion (LCAC), allowing up to 145 combat-equipped Marines to reach the shoreline no matter the tide, water depth, obstacles or beach gradient. The reliable platform is an Program of Record for 72 US Navy and Marine Corps fleet assets, meeting evolving requirements for payload and availability, and has been designed with a service life of
30 years. The powerful craft includes four Rolls-Royce MT7 marine gas turbine engines and a hydrodynamic skirt that reduces drag and craft weight, and can reach speeds of up to 35 kt at Sea State 3. It is constructed from corrosion-resistant aluminum, increasing availability and lowering life cycle maintenance costs.
