The SIG Sauer P224 Nitron is a subcompact pistol derived from the P229, sharing the same all-metal frame architecture in a more concealable package with standard-size controls. Available in 9x19mm, .357 SIG, and .40 S&W, the P224 uses a double-stack magazine, a Nitron stainless-steel slide, and a black hard-coat anodised aluminium frame. The compact dimensions and full-size controls make the P224 particularly suited to plainclothes law enforcement and close protection roles where concealability is a priority
without compromising the operator's ability to use the weapon under stress.
