The Yarygin PYa is a double-action, short-recoil, semi-automatic pistol developed during the 1990s as a replacement for the Makarov PM series in Russian military service. Adopted for Russian service in 2003, the pistol has been in mass production since 2011. The Yarygin PYa is chambered for the 9x19mm 7N21 cartridge, the Russian loading of the 9x19mm NATO pistol
cartridge.
