Glock released the G19X in 2017 as the company's first crossover pistol, combining the full-size G17 frame with the compact G19 slide to create a platform suited to military holster systems while retaining the reduced slide length of the G19. The design originated from Glock's entry into the US Army Modular Handgun System competition.
