The S-5 is an unguided folding-fin aircraft rocket. The first versions were adopted by the Soviet Army in the 1950s. It is a 55mm rocket fired from a 57mm tube used by fighter bombers and helicopters. The rocket fins fold around the body when it is stowed in the launch tube and the flight fins provide stabilising spin to the rocket, enabling it to spin at 750rpm. There are 15 variants with differing purposes, dimensions and
effects.
