The Ingwe (leopard) is a multipurpose guided missile developed from the ZT3 family primarily for antitank purposes. Passive target acquisition, high countermeasure resistance and ease of use are claimed. The Ingwe was intended to supplement the older MILAN in service at the time. It was developed in the 1980s as a long-range antitank guided missile for South Africa’s mechanised infantry vehicles, such as the Ratel infantry fighting
vehicle.
