The AIM-120 Advanced Medium-Range Air-to-Air Missile is the primary all-weather, beyond-visual-range air-to-air missile of the US Air Force and Navy, developed jointly by the two services and now in service with more than 40 partner nations. The AMRAAM's active radar seeker enables fire-and-forget engagement, freeing the launch aircraft to manoeuvre or engage additional targets immediately after missile release. In addition to its primary air-to-air role, the AMRAAM has been adapted for ground-based air defence
applications in the NASAMS and C-RAM configurations, demonstrating the versatility of its guidance and propulsion system across multiple platform types.
