The An-70 is a four-engine, wide-body, medium-range, military, short take-off and landing transport aircraft, originally intended to replace obsolete platforms such as the An-12 in service with Russian and Ukrainian air forces. In the early stages of the project, Russia intended to order 160 aircraft, while Ukraine planned to order 60. While it is 25 years since the first flight, the aircraft is not believed to be in service and substantial orders have not been
placed.
