Designed as a basic and advanced jet trainer, the L-39NG can also perform a variety of other missions including light combat, close air support, COIN and reconnaissance, according to the manufacturer. Aero Vodochody announced the development of the L-39 Next Generation (NG) jet trainer in July 2014, which will expand upon the L-39 family.
