The MQ-25 Stingray is a carrier-based, long-endurance UAS that is will conduct aerial refuelling as a primary mission and provide ISR capability as a secondary mission. The Stingray, once integrated into carrier fleets, will extend the range of US carriers’ existing Boeing EA-18G Growler, F/A-18 Super Hornet and Lockheed Martin F-35C fighters. Boeing won the USN’s Carrier-Based Aerial-Refueling System competition in August 2018. IOC is expected in 2024. On 4 June 2021, an MQ-25 UAV and a Navy F/A-18 conducted the
first-ever aerial refuelling operation between a manned receiver aircraft and an unmanned tanker.
