The C-27J is it was announced in December 2013 that the USCG would receive 14 C-27J aircraft from USAF surplus stocks for modification and operation in the medium-range maritime surveillance role, supplementing the service’s HC-144 fleet, of which no further examples will be procured. As delivered, the aircraft are not fitted with any role equipment, but the USCG intends to install a surface search radar, EO/IR sensors and a standardised mission

system.
