CN-235 MPA and CN-235 ISR aircraft were developed based on the original CN-235 transport aircraft designed under a cooperative agreement by Spain’s CASA, now part of Airbus, and Indonesia’s IPTN, now Indonesian Aerospace. The Airbus and Indonesian Aerospace have developed their own MPA variants based on the common platform, CN-235MP Persuader and CN-235MPA respectively. Under USCG’s Deepwater-2000 program Lockheed Martin and Northrop Grumman team transferred 18 CASA CN-235-300Ms to MPA configuration. Similarly, the
Turkish Meltem II Program, under which Thales performed as a prime contractor, completed the system configuration work of nine CN-235 transport aircraft, manufactured by Turkish Aerospace, to maritime patrol and surveillance variant.
