The MiG-29 (NATO reporting name Fulcrum) is an air superiority fighter aircraft designed to engage air targets in any weather, day and night. The production of the first-generation MiG-29 began in 1982 and continued until 1996. Second-generation MiG-29K/KUB and MiG-29M/M2 production began in 2005. A total of 1,500 aircraft were manufactured in six blocks: MiG-29 Fulcrum-A, MiG-29UB Fulcrum-B, MiG-29S Fulcrum-C, MiG-29K/MiG-29KUB Fulcrum-D, MiG-29M/M2 and MiG-29OVT/MiG-35 Fulcrum-F (see separate entry). The MiG-29 is

powered by two RD-33 turbofan engines.
