The JF-17, also known as FC-1 Xiaolong in China, is a lightweight multirole fighter aircraft developed jointly by the Chengdu Aircraft Industry Group of China and Pakistan Aeronautical Complex. The development programme started in 1999 and its maiden flight was recorded on 23 August 2003. The aircraft entered Pakistani Air Force service in 2007. Its variants include Block I, II, III and twin-seat JF-17B configuration. Upgraded JF-17 Block III fighter, which Pakistan ordered 50 examples, completed its maiden flight on

15 December 2019. Pakistan Air Force will take delivery of the Block III variant between 2021 and 2024.
