The J-16 is a multirole fighter developed by China. It is based on the J-11 air superiority fighter, itself a licence-built version of the Russian Su-27. With modern technologies intended for an offensive role, the J-16 is considered a next-generation combat aircraft capable of air-to-air engagements and precision strikes on ground and naval targets. The aircraft is believed to have entered Chinese service in 2013. It was unveiled to the public during military parades in 2017. It is powered by two Shenyang Liming
WS-10A Taihang turbofan engines.
