The A-50 (NATO reporting name Mainstay) is an airborne warning and control system aircraft designed by Beriev based on the IL-76 to meet the requirements of the Soviet Air Force to replace the Tu-126 Moss. Production of the A-50 began in 1984 and continued until 2010. A total of 25 A-50 aircraft were manufactured for India and Russia. Its upgrades currently under production include four variants: the A-50E/I, A-50U, A-50I and
A-50M.
