In 2001, Vickers Defence Systems (now part of BAE Systems) received a £250 million ($300 million) UK MoD contract to build 66 Engineer Tank Systems (ETS), consisting of 33 Trojan Armoured Vehicle Royal Engineers and 33 Titan Armoured Bridge Layers, to equip the British Army’s Royal Engineers. In March 2004, the first prototype Trojan was delivered to the Royal Engineers Trials and Development Unit at Bovington. A total of 33 Trojans are now in service. Deliveries of both vehicles are complete. Both the Trojan and
Titan are based on the chassis of the Challenger 2 MBT.
