BAE Systems produced more than 2,800 6x6 Caimans – a V-hull design based on the company’s Family of Medium Tactical Vehicles (FMTV) chassis and Low Signature Armored Cab (LSAC) – for the US MRAP programme between 2007 and 2009. Following plans to cut the US MRAP fleet after the war in Afghanistan and Iraq, many of these ex-US Army vehicles were sold or donated to military allies. BAE has also developed an upgraded Caiman Multi-Terrain Vehicle (MTV) variant that provides greater levels of survivability and
mobility.
