ST Engineering began the development of the tracked Next-Generation Armoured Fighting Vehicle (NGAFV) in 2006 as a replacement for the Singapore Army’s fleet of approximately 1,000 M113 Ultra APCs. Five variants of the platform have been developed: an IFV, a command vehicle, an armoured engineering vehicle, an armoured recovery vehicle and an armoured vehicle-launched bridge. Following a contract awarded by Singapore’s MoD in March 2017, the NGAFV was formally commissioned into service with the Singapore Army in
June 2019 as the Hunter AFV.
