Norinco displayed its VN17 tracked IFV for the first time during its Armour Day event in August 2017. Primarily aimed at the export market, it is more heavily armoured than previous generations of Chinese IFVs yet still light enough to be air-transportable by military transport aircraft such as the C-130 Hercules. An unmanned turret armed with a 30mm cannon, coaxial machine gun and two HJ-12 ATGM launchers is mounted in the centre of the hull, while up to seven personnel can be carried in the rear troop

compartment.
