The BT-3F is an amphibious tracked APC developed in response to an Indonesian Marine Corps requirement for a new vehicle to replace its ageing fleet of 70 legacy BTR-50 APCs. Capable of carrying 14 passengers and three crew, the BT-3F is intended to support naval assaults by shuttling marines from amphibious assault ships to the shore under the protection of its armoured hull. As it shares many of the components used by the BMP-3F (upon which it is based), the BT-3F offers existing users of the BMP-3 a high degree
of design commonality and thereby simplifies logistical considerations.
