Category
Armored Vehicles
In 2018, Hanwha Defence commenced development of a successor for the Korean Amphibious Assault Vehicle (KAAV), a licence-produced variant of the BAE Systems AAV7A1 currently in service with the Republic of Korea Marine Corps (ROKMC). Designated the KAAV II, this 35t fully amphibious vehicle will be able to transport 18 marines from ship to shore at speeds of more than 24km/h at sea and will be armed with an unmanned turret equipped with a 40mm cannon. A scale model of the KAAV II was unveiled at ADEX 2019, but it
is not expected to enter service until the late 2020s.
