In March 2018, the Australian DoD announced that it had selected the Rheinmetall Boxer CRV, a further development of the ARTEC 8x8 Boxer APC, to meet the Australian Army’s requirement for a new wheeled Combat Reconnaissance Vehicle (CRV). It will replace its General Dynamics Land Systems 8x8 Australian Light Armoured Vehicle family which has been in service since 1996. Under the $2.4 billion procurement contract, Rheinmetall will deliver a total of 211 Boxer CRVs and 223 mission modules to Australia between 2019
and 2026, of which 186 will be produced in Australia.
