The ZBL-08 ‘Snow Leopard’ is the infantry fighting vehicle (IFV) variant of a family of 8x8 amphibious vehicles unveiled by Norinco in 2009. As used by the People’s Liberation Army (PLA), it is equipped with a two-man turret armed with a 30mm cannon and a 7.62mm coaxial machine gun, with space in the rear troop compartment for up to seven personnel. This standard IFV configuration has also been sold to export customers and a plethora of other variants have been developed by Norinco for the PLA and foreign
militaries. This includes an armoured recovery vehicle, an armoured personnel carrier with a raised superstructure, a command post, a fire support vehicle and a reconnaissance vehicle.
