A prototype of the 90mm-armed 6x6 Badak (Indonesian for rhinoceros) direct fire support vehicle was unveiled at IndoDefence in November 2014 by Pindad and partner John Cockerill Defense. The Indonesian Army (TNI-AD) ordered 50 vehicles in January 2016; however, the TNI-AD later reduced the quantity to 14 units. In addition, the Indonesian Army’s five-year defence plan for the period 2020-2024 outlined plans to procure an additional 52 units by 2023, 18 in 2020, 18 in 2021 and 16 in 2022. The order status of these

additional 52 is unknown, but seven units were delivered in January 2022.
