KMW developed the Mungo family to meet a requirement from the German Army for a protected multipurpose air-portable vehicle that could be carried by a CH-53/CH-47 helicopter to equip its airborne and special forces. The Mungo can be prepared for loading internally on a CH-53 or CH-47 within five minutes, and three vehicles can be carried by a C-130 transport aircraft. The Mungo is based on the Multicar M30/FUMO

chassis.
