ACMAT (now Arquus) unveiled the Bastion 4x4 armoured personnel carrier at Eurosatory 2010, followed by the Bastion HM (High Mobility) variant at Eurosatory 2012. The vehicle is built on the all-welded steel chassis of ACMAT's VLRA TDN-TDE tactical truck family, with a large number of components shared with the VLRA and ALTV ranges to simplify logistics across the operator's fleet.
