The AUV62-MR is an autonomous UUV designed to perform long-term mine reconnaissance missions. Deliberately designed to resemble the Heavyweight Torpedo (HWT), the system can be launched underwater from submarines fitted with standard HWT tubes without requiring any modifications, or it can be deployed from surface vessels or the shore. Once underwater, the system uses its array of sensors and sonar to detect and identify mine-like objects. In addition to the MCM version, other variants of the AUV-62 family have been
developed, including the AUV62-AT underwater target and the AUV62-F UUV, which was adopted by the Swedish Navy in 1999.
